A couple times a year, UBC holds a baptism for those who regularly attend or are wishing to become members at UBC. The baptism is usually held as part of or just after the morning worship service.
Baptism is not merely a responsibility but also a privilege. We have the opportunity to evidence our trust in and love for our King through obedience in this ordinance. If we think of baptism as a mere burden, we have not properly understood the joy of following Christ in the call to be baptized. We should have a similar response as the Ethiopian eunuch who, when he believed the gospel, proclaimed, “What prevents me from being baptized?” It should be our joy, and we should eagerly anticipate our participation in the ordinance.
The desire to be baptized should be motivated by a desire to glorify God in faithful obedience. Any other motivation (to join a particular local church, to please a friend or family member, etc.) should not be the ultimate reason for seeking to be baptized. UBC holds its business meetings twice a year in the Fall and Spring with special meetings called if needed. While those who regularly attend UBC are welcome to listen in on the meeting, its only those who have completed the membership process who are allowed to vote in the meetings. A couple times a year, we choose to use our Worship Service Time as a time to tell one another what God has been doing in our lives through a testimonial service. We usually have a couple of microphones that roam around the worship center giving you the opportunity to publicly give God praise for specific things He’s been doing in your heart and life.
You are invited to attend our Christmas Eve Candlelight service on December 24th at 6:00 p.m. Our Christmas Eve service usually has lots of music, Christmas scripture readings and the lighting of the candles at the end.
There will be no nursery available in order to allow everyone to attend and take part of the service.
UBC is sponsoring a teen missions trip to San Francisco de Yojoa. This village is the hometown of one of our church members, Rosa Gray. She has been conducting evangelistic efforts in this town over the past several years in the public schools and we are going to help do followup and teaching on what she has done.
What we will doing during the trip?
- Evangelism and teaching in the Honduran public graded and high schools
- Open air evangelism in the central park
- Small work projects around town
- Small medical team working with a government clinic and doing some house visits
What is the latest date to decide to go on the trip or not?
We are limiting the number of people on the team to 20 members. We must know how many are going by no later than November 23rd.
For more information on the trip to Honduras you can contact one of the guys below or pick up the information sheet in the foyer.
